Probably a good thing I got out while I did.
Came home to a long night with a sick little one.
Living in Emergency...stories of Doctors Without Borders…was amazing. It followed several doctors as they served in post-war Liberia and the Congo. Really eye-opening about the limitations of idealism. A honest look at the exhaustion, frustration, anger, and emotional toll that such work brings. There is a cost to compassion. Wrestling with that today….

There is another book I have, written by a doctor who worked in emergency medicine and then went on to work in 3rd world areas… it’s really good as well… if you’re interested in reading it, let me know! (I have to go find it first! lol)
