Breaking out some moves….

Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep. Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. (Psalm 127:1-3 ESV)

“I am learning….that the building up of my family is, ultimately, not going to be a result of my marvelous mothering [and] I can’t be burdened down by guilt when I’m a less than marvelous mother.
If my children grow up and choose to follow Jesus, it won’t be because I woke up early every morning to pray for them, or stayed up late at night to provide a “perfect” home for them. It is vanity to think that I can be a good enough mother to guarantee my family will stand strong in the midst of life’s storms or a very attractive and alluring world. ” -Lisa Whelchel

“There is a way of ordering our mental life on more than one level at once. On one level we may be thinking, discussing, seeing, calculating, meeting all the demands of external affairs. But deep within, behind the scenes, at a profounder level, we may also be in prayer and adoration, song and worship and gentle receptiveness to divine breathings.”

(Thomas Kelly)

I do not think I exaggerate when I say that some of us put our

offering in the plate with a kind of triumphant bounce as much as to
say: “There – now God will feel better!” I am obliged to tell you
that God does not need anything you have. He does not need a dime of
your money. It is your own spiritual welfare at stake in such
matters as these. You have the right to keep what you have all to
yourself – but it will rust and decay, and ultimately ruin you. “

(A. W. Tozer)

And seriously, she is literally that much taller than him…..

Someone at the airport last night asked me which barber did Zeke’s hair.

Yes, she did. She was very impressed.

Now granted, she was white. But still. This is improvement.

She said she was a barber.

So that’s that.

And I will tell you other Moms what I did…but really it’s probably not right. I need to find out the “right” way probably and then pass along that info.

Basically it is simply twisted (like you would two strands of yarn), with lots of product….I just used the leave in conditioner as I did Zeke…but I’m thinking there has to be a better way because it is not going to stay very long. Jennifer should be giving this lesson…she is very good at it. Or Sarah. Or Ruthie.

The white lady was impressed.

But I’m still not the one to be helpful in this department…

“Love and business and family and religion and art and patriotism are nothing but shadows of words when a man’s starving.”
(O. Henry)

Upon his return from school, Max wanted his hair done like Zeke’s.

That was not going to happen.

But they are both adorable.

“Looking at he millions of boneded child laborers in India or the thousands of child prostitutes in Asia or the thousands of torure victims twisting and bleeding in the world’s forgotten jail cells, we cay say to God, “Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you! Thank you for the power, protection, freedom, and justice you have granted us in sparing us from such fates. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!

Or we can ask, “What have you given me, Father, that I might help those who don’t have power, who don’t have protection, who don’t have freedom, who don’t have justice?”
(Gary Haugen)

Kora was not about to be left out.

My hands, however, were a bit tired by the time we got to her head..
