Day one.

Both of these pictures were taken on day one of our lives together.

We picked them up from the orphanage and attempted to settle into a hotel in Freetown.

Looking back at these pictures, their eyes tell the story:

Zeke’s say: “Oh hello, white mom. Thanks for coming. Here’s my heart forever and ever.”

Kora’s say: “Yah. I don’t think so. I’m in charge of us. You keep your distance and earn your right to be trusted.”

Zeke is pure sweetness.

Kora is pure strength.

I’m not kidding you. The strongest girl I have ever met. The sweetest boy on the planet.

They are seven today.

And to say that I love them with my whole being doesn’t seem adequate.

We are so proud.

We are so thankful.

So sweet.

So strong.
